Loved ones are paying tribute to the actor who died suddenly at his home in Hawaii.

WEB Taylor Wily, an American actor, former sumo wrestler and mixed martial artist who rose to fame on the sumo circuit in the late 1980s before moving into acting, has died. He was 45.

Wily, who was born Teila Tuli on June 14, 1968, in Honolulu, Hawaii, was known for his tender demeanor and intimidating presence.

He began his sumo career in 1986 and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a top-ranked wrestler in the early 1990s. He retired from sumo in 1998 and transitioned into mixed martial arts, where he competed in several notable fights.

Wily's acting career began in the early 2000s, with small roles in films and television shows. He landed his breakthrough role as Kamekona on the Hawaii Five-0 reboot in 2010, a role he played for 10 seasons.

Wily also appeared in films such as Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008), Pineapple Express (2008) and Trouble with the Curve (2012). He most recently appeared in the Netflix series The Recruit, which premiered earlier this year.

Wily's sudden death has come as a shock to his family, friends and fans. He is survived by his wife, Keala, and their two children.
