In a thrilling heavyweight bout, Oleksandr Usyk of Ukraine defeated Tyson Fury of the United Kingdom by split decision on Sunday to become the undisputed heavyweight champion.

The highly anticipated fight, which took place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, was a back-and-forth affair. Both fighters landed heavy punches throughout the contest, but Usyk ultimately proved to be too skillful and elusive for Fury.

With the victory, Usyk becomes the first undisputed heavyweight champion in nearly 25 years. He joins an elite group of fighters who have held all four major heavyweight titles simultaneously.

Usyk, who is now 20-0 in his professional career, said after the fight that he had been preparing for this moment for his entire life. "I've prepared for this for 22 years," he said. "I've been dreaming of this moment since I was a little boy."

Fury, who falls to 33-1-1, was gracious in defeat. He congratulated Usyk on his victory and said he would be back. "I'll be back," Fury said. "I'm not going anywhere."

The undisputed heavyweight title fight was the main event of a stacked fight card that also featured several other notable bouts. In the co-main event, Jai Opetaia of Australia defeated Mairis Briedis of Latvia to win the WBO cruiserweight title.
